How to Shoot a Panoramic with Scott Stulberg

Found the following tutorial on the mechanics of shooting landscape panoramas in the field, courtesy of Lisa Bettany and her photo blog, MostlyLisa.com (if this reference doesn’t help shoot my stats up, I don’t know what will !).

What surprises me is that Scott is shooting this panoramic of the Grand Tetons in horizontal frames. I prefer to use vertical, but perhaps I should revisit horizontal. I think the key to his technique is zooming in a bit from super wide.

I also would like to emphasize the importance of using a good, solid tripod with a pro ballhead and a bubble level. Very important.

Actually stitching the frames together is now easier than ever thanks to the photomerge function in Abobe Bridge CS3. As a matter of fact, I think it works better than the old method of “layers-screen-erase.”
