Tweaking JimCrotty.com
Creative Vision of Photographer Jim Crotty
I’ve been busy tweaking my base web site, www.JimCrotty.com, aka ohiophoto.org, with various new features and updated galleries. The updated pages include:
Photography News
Architectural Photography
Recent Work
Creative Vision
Handcolored Photography
Black and White Landscape Photography
What spurred this rush of web re-design and update activity was going back and revisiting the help resources available for users of RapidWeaver, the web design software that I now use to manage my main site. I went with RapidWeaver after being laughed at one too many times whenever I mentioned I used FrontPage for my web site. Since I was too lazy to sit and learn Dreamweaver, I was looking for a software package that would give me close to the same benefits but without the steep learning curve. Plus I wanted something that I could use right from my MacBook Pro.
Kind of like WordPress, there have been some third-party developers popping up offering add-ons and plug-ins. The two that I recently installed include RapidFlickr and RapidBlog. The online galleries I can now publish using RapidFlickr come closest to what I have always been looking for - clean, simple presentation without color distortions and flash requirements, translating into ease of user accessibility.
Also, thanks to a recent tip posted by my favorite Websiteologist, David Esrati, I’ve added my own Amazon storefront featuring my recommendations on cameras, lenses, software and other photo gear. Check it out - http://ohiophoto.org/recommendations/photogear.htmlÂ
